Best Breakfast & Brunch Spots in Ubud: Unique Cafes with Views

1. 🌾 Sweet Orange Warung: Rice-Field View in Ubud Center
➡ Indonesian Food I Great View
Sweet Orange Warung is a true hidden gem in Ubud located along the Kajeng Rice Fields Walk. Even though it’s technically in the center of town, you’d never know it – the rice fields are a protected and quiet area located right next to the craziness that is Ubud Center. Sweet Orange Warung does great breakfast sets that include eggs any style, homemade juice, proteins, coffee, and fruit salad for only 80-100K IDR. The food is more local than Western-style compared to others on this list, but everything is made fresh and tasty.
Note: Even though Sweet Orange Warung is located in the center of Ubud, you can’t drive to it directly since it’s in the rice fields. It’s located around a 10-minute walk from Ubud Center through Kajeng Rice Fields to get to the cafe. Tip > Visit the local Ubud Morning Market before the cafe, it’s only open in the morning.

2. 🎥 WYAH Art Space: Theatrical Cafe in the Jungle
➡ Vegan & Vegetarian-Friendly I Fusion I Instagrammable
WYAH (which stands for “While You Are Here”) is an ultra-Instagrammable cafe in Ubud, which has become famous for its insane theatrical menu items. Featuring dramatic dishes like “Cloud Coffee”, which is composed of a cloud made of cotton candy, weeping condensation (which looks like rain) as the steam from a hot coffee cup melts it. WYAH also has a seafood platter titled the “Gastronomy”, which has dry ice creating fog on the dish, as well as a sheet of filo dough which is lit on fire as it is served to you (!!!!).

3. ☕️ MUDRA Cafe: Bamboo Treehouse Jungle Eatery
➡ Vegan & Vegetarian-Friendly I CoWork Friendly I Fusion
Mudra is one of the most creatively designed cafes in Ubud, and my personal favorite. Made to look like a giant treehouse, the cafe gets decorated with fresh marigolds daily. If you’re looking for a place in Ubud Center that has great food, coffee, and ambiance, this would be my top recommendation. They serve Western/Pan-Asian fusion with a vegan spin at Mudra, so there’s really something for everyone.
Tip! If you come in the evening, Mudra serves a fantastic “Banana Leaf Dinner” with food served Sri Lankan style on a large banana leaf for a plate.

4. 🐱 Lazy Cats Cafe: Instagrammable Cat-Themed Vegetarian Cafe
➡ Vegan & Vegetarian-Friendly I Fusion I Western Food
Lazy Cats Cafe is a super-stylish cafe located right off the main street in town, Jl. Raya Ubud, but you wouldn’t guess that you’re on a major busy road once inside the cafe. Lazy Cats has high ceilings and a fun hipster-jungle-cat theming (lots of paintings of lions with mustaches and top hats). Know that Lazy Cats only serves vegetarian food.

5. 🍔 Milk & Madu: Trendy Western Chain
➡ Vegan & Vegetarian-Friendly I CoWork Friendly I Kid-Friendly I Western Food
Milk & Madu is a Bali staple with two locations in Canggu (Berawa) and Ubud. The cafe is located right in the center of town next to the Ubud Art Market, and it’s an easy spot to stop in for some strong coffee and high-quality Western-style food. I love that this cafe serves American portion sizes, especially for the coffee, since many coffee shops in Bali use teeny tiny cups and I usually have to order two 😅. Bonus, try their wood-fired pizza 🍕.
For Kids: Milk & Madu has a “Little Ankle Biters” menu for kids.

6. ☮️ Sayuri Healing Food: Hippy Vegan Cafe With Stellar Vibes
➡ Vegan & Vegetarian-Friendly I CoWork Friendly I Kid-Friendly I Fusion
Sayuri Healing Food doesn’t have a view, but it makes up for it with immaculate vibes. One of the main-stay hippy-ish cafes in Ubud Center, Sayuri Healing Food has tatami mats and cushions for visitors to sit on while they dine. It’s not uncommon for someone to bring a guitar (or even a Sitar, Ubud can be a bit woo-woo at times) and have a chill little concert. A favorite with local expats in Ubud, Sayuri Healing is overall a great choice if you want high-quality, filling, and budget-friendly meals.
Bonus: Sayuri frequently hosts vegan cooking classes in their backroom studio, and has free live music at night.
